My AIM page A197 section 102 sheet 3.0 shows the capacitor being mounted underneath with a 138479 washer and a 449811 screw. The TIM&JG states the "despite" that it should be a cadmium plated Phillips pan-head screw mounted on the top of the wire support. What is the P/N and/or description of the correct screw and can someone post a picture showing the correct mounting?

Re: '61 Igntion Coil Capacitor Mounting - what is the correct screw and mounting
John,
When I restored my 59, I attached the capacitor on the underside of the bracket. What a pain to get it fastened. I asked Dave Heitzman and he indicated that they were never istalled as the the AIM. After getting mine in place per the AIM, I now understand why the production workers fastened it on top and I'm not going to try and reverse it per Dave's findings. Just my 2 cents.- Top

Re: '61 Igntion Coil Capacitor Mounting - what is the correct screw and mounting
It would have only been easy if it had been attached to the bracket before it was installed but then they would have had to likely deal with damaging the capacitor when handling the bracket. It looks like it's a #8 screw so I'll go with that for now. I can always plate it to get a good looking finish.- Top
