Is it true Zora only owned one Corvette a C3 ? Why wouldn't Chevrolet give him a new demo since he was the chief engineer ? Even most car salesmen often got a new demo each year.

Re: Zora one Corvette
Zora was at a level (8) to drive a company owned vehicle for much of his GM career. It was only much later in his career that he reached the executive ranks as chief engineer just a few years before he retired.
The terms of the GM program were he had to have a car for his wife to drive so I'm sure he owned many cars over the years and he had access I'm sure to almost any number of development Corvettes. He bought the C3 going into retirement. Even now once you retire access to company vehicles is done.
I saw a TV show where Bob Lutz still had a company vehicle in his driveway after he retired but I think he had some kind of consulting arrangement.- Top

Zora had access to and drove numerous current year Corvettes over the course of his career, but the point is that he did not "own" them. They were owned by GM, which is why he never bought a Corvette, titled in his name, until shortly before he retired.

Re: Zora one Corvette
He also drove "regular" Chevrolets. My father was at a party next door to where he lived, around '60, and Zora was there. My father was in college at the time, and started talking to Zora about the '59 348 tri-power he owned. Zora gave him the keys to the '60 he had at the party and told my dad to "have fun". It must have had a 409/409. My dad took some friends for a ride and said it was the fastest thing he had ever drove, up to that time.- Top
