The article did not say. I think with 2 kids stuffed back there I would assume coupe?? Crazy folks out there...

Given the large amount of space in the back of a C5 coupe...does anyone else see this as a huge waste of taxpayer resources to put her in jail for 6 to 23 months? It's not like she let them sit in the car when it was 100 degrees outside and the car was 160 inside. Seems to me some education course or community service would have gotten the message across just as well.

Patrick, I agree.....but maybe the court figured that with 6 more months, the kids would be "mother-proof". If she belonged to a Corvette Club, it might be fun to attend one of their "tech sessions" on "How to face forward when sitting in your Corvette", etc.......

I remember riding around in the back of my aunt's new 1965 coupe when my mom was in the passenger seat . . . but that was a much different time.

Easy enough to find out - I used to belong to the York County Corvette Club. I believe that others here are current members.
And no, I don't know her from then, as it was 20 years ago.

I don't tell the story of a bolted car seat in the back of a 63 SPLIT WINDOW. Or a play pen with fold down side all rope mesh that snapped up when the kids were corralled in a 65 coupe. Corvette club happenings in So Cal in 1967-69 era.

I agree. The basic violation was not having the kids belted in and/or in kiddie seats if they were less than 50 pounds or whatever the criterion is. That would be an infraction subject to fine, but jail time...? That's ludicrious.
