66 steering column question

The TIM&JG says - the lower bearing assembly is retained by a spacer, spring and clamp, all of which are typically painted semi-gloss black, however, the clamp may be natural finish metal and....

May be a dumb question, but does the all of which include the bearing assembly. I.e. is the bearing assembly also semi-gloss black, or just the spacer, spring and clamp?

Don, The recent 66 column I restored had no paint on the bearing, however much rust so can't be sure. The AIM lists as a separate part# so my thought is that the mast jacket was painted before assembly, therefore the loose race and bearing, etc, installed after paint. But all speculation on my part.

i agree with richard. no lower bearing i've replaced on any c-2's had been painted black. all were natural. mike
