I must be bored...got dark too early with the time change. Was perusing the AIM and in UPC 10, A1 the following quote appears. I have always been of the belief that weights were supposed to be ONLY on the inside of the wheel. Not so according to this notation. What am I missing??

Re: '67 Wheel Weight location
Leif - Yep, that time change does interesting things; but as far as I know wheel weights on the outside of the '67 wheels can be an issue & you might not be happy with the results when you install the trim rings. Don't run the experiment. Install the wheel weights on the inside & BE HAPPY you did it. Save a "TRIM RING." Pete- Top

Re: '67 Wheel Weight location
Yeah, that's where mine are Pete...I was just curious about the notation in the '67 AIM. I agree with the clips possibly interfering with the weights on the outside. Wonder if you would get docked on judging if they were installed on the outside...what with the mention in the AIM. Again, just a bored curiosity.Leif

Re: '67 Wheel Weight location
Lief - I don't know that you would get docked in judging, but if you damaged the trim ring you would probably get docked on condition & bored or not, you would not be happy about that.
Note that there are references in the 6th Ed of the 1967 Corvette TIM&JG to "Wheels & Tires" p.240 & "1967 Corvette Wheel Trim Rings" p.245
that are of interest.
Also, as I understand the process the Corvette Wheel Trim Rings were placed in the cars & the Dealer was to install them. If that is correct, it didn't make any difference where the wheel weights were installed at the Factory; but from the info in the Chevrolet Service News, I'd say that some issues were encountered during the Dealer prepso a fix was suggested.
