    '67 Rally Wheel

Does this decode as a '67 Corvette Rally Wheel? And, if so, what do the letters and numbers mean?

    Leif,
My 67 is also DC and that was what I was told the rims for 67 had. I also think (in the forum) that there was another letter code for a different build time. My 67 is a may baby.

        Leif,
Took a look in some old posts and they are saying DC is a 67. Although what Edward has makes one think!

          Re: '67 Rally Wheel

The Rally wheel "DC" code was used in 1967 on the Corvette (and on station wagons with disc brakes). In 1968 (the date on the wheel in question) it was used only on full size cars. It was also used in 1969 on full size cars.

You could still use it, but the date would be wrong. And since the date is hidden by the trim ring, who would care!

Plus, on original production line wheels a 25 cent piece (quarter) will pass through the holes around the circumference. Later K/H service wheels for some reason have smaller width holes. I am not sure about the smaller DC stamped wheel like this one.

Mike, I don't have my car judged, but do they make you drop the spare during judging??

                        Ed,
This makes perfect sense. These stamps are only on the R/R of my '67. I would hazard a guess that one wheel was damaged and replaced with one from service made in 1968. Thank you for decoding for me. The wheel slots allow a quarter to pass thru on all of the wheels with 1/8" to spare. Part of this stamping is visible thru the valve stem hole. Again, thank you.

Thank you for the PDF. Great article and concurs with what Edward stated earlier.

Only the YS code 15x6 rally wheel ('69 & later, service rplmt, el canino, etc.) slots will not allow a quarter to pass through the slot radially. Small DC, FI, DF, large DC, DG, B, and the like all have full width radial dimension slots & will easily permit the quarter to pass. Photo below illustrates YS stamped as follows: K1 0 6 (valve stem) 18 YS (Jun 18, 1970), Hoop 15x6 JK

                              Hi Jeff,

I had two FI stamped wheels and I bet my friday night pizza that the quarter will not pass through. :-) I am pretty sure about this unless my memory is completely going.
