Re: Jimi Hendrix 1969 Corvette
Somewhere I have a picture of him in it and a picture of a painting done by a woman in CT that does portraits of stars with classic cars. Can't remember her name.
If if you Google "Jimi Hendrix 1969 Corvette" the two pics come up, which is probably where I got them

Re: Jimi Hendrix 1969 Corvette
I have always been interested in this topic since I knewthat Hendrix had owned several Corvettes.
Hendrix was a reckless driver who had bad eyesight butrefused to wear glasses.
that he wrecked a lot of cars, and owned several Corvettes, includingsolid axles. The topic is
interesting, but the paper trail is sparse.
with Barry Meguiar interviewing
Jeff Beck, another legendary rock guitarist who is also ahot rod collector and builder. At the 14minute

Re: Jimi Hendrix 1969 Corvette
I saw Jimi's 57 in Georgia in 1999. The car sold to a California collector years ago. It was a restored badly damaged car with a neat purple paint job. I lost photos. SAM RASMEY owned it with 100's of other cars. That is another fun story.Over 80 Corvettes of fun ! Love Rochester Fuel Injection 57-65 cars. Love CORVETTE RACE CARS

Jimi Hendrix, "Stingray Demolition Specialist"
To add to the rumors, I just accidentally stumbled on a 12-minute interview on You Tube titled "Chas Chandler Interview about His Life with Jimi Hendrix." It is an old BBC Radio program, but quite informative. At the 8:44 mark, Chandler is describing some of the ludicrous, extravagant and self-destructive behavior that was going on at about the time "Electric Ladyland" was being recorded. Eventually, the subject turned to Corvettes,
and Chandler recalled,
"He sent his road manager, Gerry Stickells, to bring his car from New York to Los Angeles. He only had it in LA an hour when he 'wrapped it up.' Walked straight away from the crash into a shop, bought a new one ... which he 'wrapped up' the following day,
and bought yet another one! Three Stingrays in one weekend."
The car that Gerry Stickells retrieved in New York could well have been the "metallic green" or "Goodwood green" car that Jeff Beck recalled riding around Manhattan in with Hendrix on the "Car Crazy" TV episode. Pure speculation of course ...- Top
