Don, I noticed this thread at the bottom of yours noting "Similar Threads". I just read it, and has more photos, but after reading it all I think my head just exploded. I'm washer'd out now.

Rich, I agree, it can be exhausting. I have mine just like you have on your car, and I feel confident with that arrangement! Don

so not to change the main question of the thread, but are we sure they were RSC head markings? the reason I ask is I have seen a few at Corvette show that have 6 lines on them (as in Richards post) with a small M in the center, zinc. confused? I can start a new thread if it would be better.

I agree with Don. I think it would be good to keep any bolt discussion right here as it's related to the subject and will be helpful to others for future reference. This is the fun aspect of researching and it helps others when restoring.

As we know, many hardware manufacturers were used to supply St Louis. To reference again....
            GM part# for the bolt is 454872. 5/16"-18 1 5/8" long 300M(Grade 8)

I looked for some more photos of a BB car. One more below. This 1967 was a early car built in November. Note it seems to not have the thick washers. Can't see the bolt head markings but I may have those bolts in a bag somewhere, as I may have replaced them with reproductions as there was paint on them. I'll have to look for them.

Re: Radiator support Bracket Washers 66/67 Big Blocks

I found a bag of the bolts, but they came from that black car. I don't think they're originals which is probably why I got the RSC repros.

They are 5/16-18 x 1 11/16" long, but they are 280M(Grade5 3 lines), but RBW head marks. Each letter is between each line. Since they would have been deduct material per the JG, that's why I changed them.

This is what is on my 66 BB, can't say if it is original but I can say they were on the car in 70 when my buddy bought it and I bought it from him in 72. I have no knowledge of anything prior to then

Any body have any thoughts on the headmarks? We all know anything could happen between new and 1970, that might require changing the bolts, but even if a new rad was installed i would think the person would still use what came off? Thoughts?

Anthony, What is the length of those M bolts?

IMO, other bolt manufacturers was possible. Rich Pasqualone may have input if he sees this.

Richard, All 6 bolts are 1 5/8 inchs long, with 5/8 unthreaded.
