    72 T Top Molding

The stainless steel molding that covers the T-top center support on my 72 coupe has two chrome pieces riveted to the rear portion of the molding. Diagram UPC 1, sheet F11 shows the chrome pieces as "roof upper molding", and the rivet (number 5) as part number 9428387. Is this just a simple pop rivet, or a specialized rivet? The two outer chrome pieces on my car are corroded and will need to be replaced and I'm curious how to properly re-attach them to the stainless molding. Secondly, is there a special tool GM used to set this rivet as the available space on the reverse side of the molding is too confined for any rivet gun I'm familiar with?

Lastly, is there anyone out there that specializes in doing this. I'd prefer to send the pieces to someone who could polish the stainless trim and do the rivet correctly.

    Thanks,

    Mike

On closer examination I see that the rivet is set from the outside, not the inside as I first thought so a regular rivet gun is perfectly suitable.
