1971 Wiper Switch Problem

Replaced my original Delco Remy #1993481 wiper switch with a new one and it works 50% of the time. I know the replacement parts today are not too great. Any one have any suggestions.

Paul, I myself like to find out what makes things tick, I believe that the original switch can be easily taken apart and the contacts cleaned with some like sand paper. they generally have a few tangs that bend over the plastic housing.
