75 fender anti-theft switch
Can anyone tell me what the anti-theft switch located in front of the keyed alarm switch does? The reason I ask is the previous owner pulled the connector off and used a jumper wire between the 2 terminals inside the connector. I tested the switch and their is no continuity between the terminals unless the plunger on the side of the switch is depressed. The alarm presently does not work so I am sure their are other problems within the system. Their does not seem to be any write ups around that explain what the switches actual do. Also this car was an early 75 with the seatbelt interlock system which had been disabled so I don't if the alarm was part of this system also. I am stil trying to figure out how to put this system back together. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Richard,
The seat belts don't have anything to do with the alarm system. There are three switches you'll need to check on for the alarm. One is under the hood at the rear on the passenger side. The other two are located in the lower rear door jambs. Once the key turns the alarm on, if either door or the hood is opened the alarm horn will sound with a pulsating low tone sound. The alarm horn is located up under the left rear fender below the antenna. The alarm relay switch should be located in the passenger side storage compartment under the jack tray. You should try to find the wiring schematic for the 75. It will help you a great deal. Here are a couple pics showing the 75 wiring diagram with the alarm wiring. Hope this helps.

There is no such switch. If you are talking about a switch mounted in the fender it would have been added by a PO.Comment

The alarm is not in the inter fender it's just behind the fender in easy reach that is why it has a extra switch to set the alarm off besides the key switch.Lyle

Thanks for the diagram, that is the switch! Now I see it suppose to be mounted. I am missing the slide plate and serrated washer on the bottom side. The previous owner could hold it against the keyed switch without those 2 items so he used the jumper wire instead to create the circuit mentioned in another thread.
