    Thanks.

I can't think of a single application on a Corvette that a brass rivet installed at St. Louis was originally used. Sometimes you find them on Delco switches, relays, etc., but that's all I can think of. On the other hand, they are often used in the field because they are easy to set.

Thanks John. I have to say that I'm a little embarrassed that I was so sure that the brass ones were correct. I first restored my car back around 87 and there was no indications at the time of ANY interior work being performed. I was very particular about keeping everything I touched "as it was" so I find it had to believe that I got these rivets wrong but obviously I did. I wish I could remember the details but it's been 30 years since my first go around with this car.

Thanks again for clearing this up for me.

Re: 69 Rear Storage Compartment Lock/Latch Retainer Finish

The last post was back in Feb and I'm just now getting around to installing my compartment frame.... geez I need to hurry up!

Hey I was wondering if someone could let me know or post a pic of the proper screws(8 each) that hold the sides and front of the compartment frame to the body? I just want to make sure mine are correct and I'm starting to wonder because my screws are countersunk but the holes in the surround aren't counter sunk...

The holes should be countersunk. They were an oval head cross-recessed screw that went to J-nuts.

          See attached picture.

Thanks Gary, I really appreciate your help with this. My surround is a repop so I'll just countersink those holes to match my screws. The holes for the latches are countersunk, not sure why they didn't just countersink them all like should be...

Just curious, are the J-nuts natural or black phosphate?

Black-Phosphate. I have also seen many that are black-oxide. I think it is the difference between suppliers.
