Did the 1970 LT-1 have bolts in both sides of the t-stat aluminum housing or was a stud with nut used on one side?

Re: 1970 LT-1 Thermostat Housing
George------
A stud with a nut was not used on ANY Corvette application I know of for thermostat housing retention. What was used was a "double-ended" stud with a hex for the shorter position. The stud was once available from GM under GM #3776391 but it's discontinued. I expect that reproductions are readily available. The lower portion of this stud often suffers from corrosion damage and needs to be replaced. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1970 LT-1 Thermostat Housing
There is a picture in the new 1970-1972 manual, for those who are visually inclined. A lot of the studs I see on restored Corvettes (all 1968-1972 small blocks had that stud) do not have the proper configuration. I don't know where they are sourced from, but there are a bunch of "close but no cigar" studs out there.Terry- Top
