C1 ignition switch

My ignition switch appears to be incorrect because as you can see in the picture only one of the key notches lines up correctly.
Am I correct?
What is the correct part number for this part?
Mine has 577 on it.

The 1116577 switch is correct for 60-62 Corvettes.

Oh, wait, is it the single key on the switch that lines up in the slot?

David, I'm heading to my shop later where I'm restoring a '61. I can get some pics of the way the switch mounts with the escutcheon and threaded bezel. I need to do this anyways.

But this may be your answer. Going from memory so I hope I have it right. On the switch that one tab with the small steps on each side locates it in the panel slot at 9:00. The extra slot in the panel(12:00) is to align the round chrome spacer on the front side to hold the black plastic escutcheon(LOCK OFF ON START) in place. Then the threaded bezel is installed on the threaded switch nose which holds everything in place.

The round spacer below. Notice the tab at 12:00 on the backside on the inner circumference which sits at 12:00 in the panel. This part is used on all 1958 to 1962 switches.

Threaded bezel. (1960-1962)


Before the round spacer is installed, set the switch in place from behind and place the escutcheon over it then the round spacer with its inner/backside tab at 12:00 into the panel slot. Then thread on the bezel and tighten securely while holding the switch firmly in place from behind.

So here is a picture sequence of the installation, along with some details of the differences of original to reproduction parts. I can't find my stash of original escutcheons but there is a noticeable difference in those as well. I''ll let the pictures do the talking.
