    Stamp Pad thoughts

This are from a '65 fuel I purchased. Numbers all match and seem to have the correct dating. There is no documentation; though I have spoken to the owner in 1991 and it was a fuelie then. My desire is to know if the collective group thinks these are legit. The fuelie registry has a notation that this is not a real FI. Am I right in thinking that this might be a real one based on the stamping. I've always presented the car as a matching numbers car that may or may not be 1 of 771. Thanks for any insights.

There's more to determining the validity of your car other than the stamp pad but since you asked, here are a couple of observations:
    1. The engine has obviously been disassembled in the past
    2. The "broach marks" on the pad are a poor attempt at recreating original marks.
    3. Having a FI unit on it in 1991 means nothing. The late 80's and early 90's were hay days for "creating" rare cars as the price of them was sky-rocketing.

Isn't the block casting date C134 (March 13, 1964) or is it G134 (June 13, 1964)? How could it have a stamp pad 0827 (August 27)? I guess the "G" would make sense but not the "C"

Is there a vin stamp on the FI plenum?
If you search the archives, there is at least one long thread on determining if a car left St Louis as an FI car.

Perfect example of 'numbers matching' does not always mean 'original factory installed engine'

Not to high jack the OPs original request, but maybe relevant, are there any concerns with the rivets on the VIN tag?

The rivets are fine. This is an early car and the use of rossette rivets didn't start until several months later.

If it is G then that would be July, not June.

Thank you to all who have weighed in on this. My purpose in posting was to have a better knowledge of what I own and how to properly represent it.. My purpose in owning it was not for investment but to have the fun and experience of driving a fuelie vette. There is no numbers on the FI unit and I did not realize that the late '80 were rift with bogus cars. My grandson has deemed this is the car he wants from my collection, I just hope he is not too disappointed to learn it's not"real". Please continue to weigh in on this as you see fit. Thank you again for the collective knowledge of those who have responded/
