Re: What is this part?
Might be a 195? to 1962 underdash harness tie, of which only one used, and I think to hold the harness to the wiper cable. IIRC I have a original on my '59 I'll take a look and a pic.
edit....Not. This one has the buttons.
But the black ties for the midyears are same but only black. i have 3 here with 17, 19, 20 under the Fx, mold numbers?

Re: What is this part?
Yes, '63 and '64s were off white/clear T-straps, also used to tie the overflow hose in the rear to the bumper support, shown here on one of my '64s. I have some like in Rich's first picture that I took off my '64 that were under the hood, now I know what they really were.Attached FilesBig Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Kinda what I was thinking Joe. I'm sure Geoff knows exactly what he pictured (and it's not even April Fools Day).Leif

Re: What is this part?
Joe: this is not a trick question. Some where’s, that I do not recall there was mention of & the photo of that Fx white fastener. I do not recall this alphabetic identification on the surface.
Below are 3 extra originals left over from my 63 with only a cavity mark: 5, 11(?), 15. No Fx on these. My 63 is in the garage under the lift with more of these genuine GM assembly line straps. Lacking the garage ceiling height, I can stack’em, but cannot open the hoods – for more than a turn of the battery green knob. CRS if they have Fx or not, but they are all GM assembly line pieces.
I would be most interested in a photo of an original used assembly line translucent 63-64 part with the Fx logo - no other.

Re: What is this part?
Geoff,
I have many ties as you do and all of them have the cavity number but NO FX or any other designation. Well maybe! On the other side of some there is a number such as 101, 103, 1XX. Not a cavity number???

Re: What is this part?
My belief is that the Fx photo shows a repro part. In order to economize that manufacturer uses the same mold for White 63-64?-?65 style as well as Black later style.
I have never seen an original assembly line White strap that is Fx marked & will pay a bounty of $10.00 US dollars for a mere photo of a genuine bon-a-fide used original – not a repro or NOS. REWARD- Top

Re: What is this part?
My 64 and a very early 65 I'm doing have all the clear type originals. The originals are amazingly soft after all these years as are black 65,66,67 originals . The repops are very stiff and don't have correct print . Seen many over 35 years , hope this helps- Top

Re: What is this part?
1. Repros don't have the dot on the top of the T on the outside.
2. Repros have t release marks on the inside of the T and no original also do.
3. Repros don't have the circle on the inside just below the T20170131_191231.jpg- Top
