    Gary - Thank you for supplying the information originally requested. This data and the inventiveness of many Corvette restorers should allow folks to come up with an accurate substitute for the missing sleeve.

      You might need to experiment with #10 ga wire or even #12 ga wire. I went in to our local True Value, bought a foot of each. Of course, they ask what are you going to use just a foot of wire for. When I told them is was for a clock stem sleeve, got a real funny look. Then I told them I was pulling the individual wires out to use for carburetor passage cleaning. Then I got a Ohhhhh. I suspect different brands of wire will have different outside sleeve sizes. But only buying a foot of each is still pretty cheap. Less than a Starbucks coffee.

        Hi Jimmy,

        Couldn't you just strip it back a little further than you needed to and cut off the excess? Maybe that's what you tried.

          I am surprised the person you talked to knew what a carburetor is. It must have been an elderly person. Many young uns don't know what a carburetor is.
