    oil pan removal

    Getting ready to replace main crankshaft seal (66 L72). Any particular position for crankshaft for oil pan removal.

      Rear main seal R/R is easier with the timing mark at 6 o'clock. This rotates the crank's rear counterweight up and out of the way for easier access. I believe the FSM mentions this also.

      But as Joe says, the crank's orientation doesn't matter for pan R/R.
