I have a couple questions as I repair my switch.... my lights are on but the brake light switch does no work. A quick look under the dash reveals the rear Mylar cap and leads popped off and their is an exposed spring... question one is this switch normally opened or closed? Second what are the internal parts besides the black button and spring and third can I use the guts from a door jamb switch from a C1 to repair or salvage parts?

I think I'd be looking for an NOS GM #1998030. However, it will probably be expensive.
One important thing: you want a brake light switch that works RELIABLY. You don't want someone running into the back end of your car.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
