    Stripped Intake Manifold Bolt

Should I use a helicoil or time sert to fix a intake manifold bolt with weak threads?

Also, Loctite make a two part epoxy to fix stripped threads.

    George------

Are you talking about an intake manifold bolt hole in one of the cylinder heads? If so, if it were one of the blind-tapped holes, I think I'd use a Helicoil. If it's one of the through-holes, I'd probably use a time sert. However, I think that either type of repair would actually be OK for either type of hole.

As far as the Locktite product, I've tried it and I didn't like it. I could not get it to hold even modest torque (i.e 20-30 lb/ft). I'd be very interested in hearing the experience that others have had using it, though. Maybe I did something wrong. If it works good, it would be a great way to solve stripped thread problems. That's why I tried it in the first place.
