Confusing Headlight Motor Date Code

I rebuilt my headlight motors over the weekend. My Passenger motor was as expected, but the drivers side had a couple of odd aspects. The date code stamped is 2 62 and the connector socket material is a black plastic material (not white as all others I have seen before).

Feb 1962 seems early even for first month of 1963 production. I doubt I have anything special here - but interested if anyone can clarify.

How about the stamper putting the wrong date in the holder?

The date and black connector were on 1963 Corvettes and for some reason changed to white (yellowed with age) in 1964. Most likely your motor assembly was changed somewhere along the way. The bottom of the barrel theory just won't fly this many years later! Sell it to someone that is restoring their "factory original untouched 63".

Joe, Thanks, very helpful information.

I'll make a standing offer to anyone restoring a 63 who wants to swap "even up" for a correct drivers side motor for my car which is a May 67 build. Your motor just needs to be in similar condition as my 2-62 motor.
