I was taking my heater box apart to restore for my 66 and found the attached inside the heater box. Must have fallen through the defroster outlet.

When I removed the original carpet from my '69, I found a 1969 penny lodged between the rear wiring harness and the drivers-side body sill. By it's placement, I think it was slipped in there by the carpet installer. I guess he wanted to say "hello" to a future restorer.

Oddly enough, at the recent National in Hampton, there was a '69 being Bowtie Judged, and I noticed a penny stuck into the firewall sealant on the driver's side near the small plate that secures the wiper door mechanism. I pointed it out to the owner, and suggested that he show Chuck Berge just for fun.

While restoring my 73 coupe (20 years ago) I found a factory, unused ignition key under the left windshield header corner molding. Pretty cool...much like a carpenter leaving a beer can in the walls of the house he just built!

When picking up my 63 new from the dealer, I found it had a white shift ball instead of black. I asked the salesman if perhaps someone there had changed it and, of course, he didn't know. Understand; this was a small dealership in a small Wisconsin town. Their allotment of new 63's was about two. I didn't mind because I was used to white from my c-1 and performance passenger car days. I kept it that way for many years for the fun of telling "know-it-all" people at car shows that my car came that way. I eventually changed it to black as it remains until today. Believe I wore the white one out.

An inspection marking on the body above the gas tank that said "GTR 12 - 4 - 70". The car was assembled 10 days later.

While flushing out the frame on our 67 we found a good amount of corn kernels this car came from Missouri and Kansas.

I found a black hole in my 58 that sucked all of the money out of my pocket anytime I got near the car...........

I found a pull switch mounted in the dash between the radio speaker and the door "pull to stop engine"

So its 1997 - at the Solid Axle Corvette Club Convention, and Noland Adams is giving a talk on C1's - he explains that a guy used green crayon to scribble on the back trunk wall ref what colour to spray - even explained how you get a quarter and where about to rub the paint off - as soon as I got home - I rubbed and found the letters char = charcoal - they never made a charcoal in 59 but did in 58, on closer examination the back half of the vette was a 58 and the front half a 59 - 58 have a kiss off lip around the bumpers.
