What is the most interesting thing you have found in your Corvette?

I searched and can't find this this post has come up recently...

Yesterday, I pulled the front seats out of a garage find 1972 LT-1 I am restoring and found a pair of dusty vintage aviator sunglasses with gold rims and huge pinkish-brown lenses, a bunch of half-used paper matchbooks, and a 1975 Philadelphia Phillies ticket stub. I envision a prior owner with a bushy hairdo and a porn star mustache hurtling down the road in his 1970's Vette with his aviator sunglasses and a cigarette dangling from his mouth on his way to watch the Phillies. It got me to thinking that I bet others have found some interesting things working on or restoring classic Corvettes.

So, share with the rest us, what is the out interesting thing you have found in your Corvette?

I recently purchased a 65 396 conv. that had been sitting since 1994. When I pulled the seats out, I found several coins, a picture of the late owners daughter at birth (I returned it to the owners wife) and a button from the drags at Seattle International Raceway (remember that Duke?) held the summer I graduated from high school and was probably at those races.

Pinky ring with the finger still attached. Kept the ring but threw the finger away.

The most interesting thing I ever found in my Corvette was the parking garage attendant. My new 72 LT-1 convertible was safely tucked away in the underground garage of our apartment building - or so I thought. As I got off of the elevator, I could hear someone making "Vrooom - Vroom" sounds, and as I approached the car, there was the parking garage attendant behind the wheel of my Corvette, apparently driving the Mille Miglia in his mind. I just watched him for a while . . . he wasn't hurting anything, or sawing away at the wheel, or trying to shift gears or anything. Finally I made sure that I made some noise, and he quickly hopped out, looking VERY embarrassed indeed. I just smiled, got in, and drove away. He did usually keep a pretty good eye on the car for me, so no big deal. Hey, who could blame him?

Some years ago I owned a 59, stripped that car right back , the only thing I found was a 10 pence coin (like a quarter) I put that coin in the ash tray and there it sat, years later I sold the car, and when the new owner was looking over the car he looks in the ash tray, I explained that I found the coin while stripping down the car, and what's found in the car should stay in the car.

2 years later at a car show I see my old Corvette, I walk up to it give it a look over, then see the owner I sold the car to come towards me - Hi I say she looks great, you still got that coin in the ash tray - at that point he leans over the car pops the lid on the ash tray and shows me the coin - all good - guess it's still there

That is a great story Keith - I hope it was a 1959 minted coin, if it was you shouldn't lose any points during judging.

In 1980 when I was starting to research the history of the '66 coupe we had purchased in March 1977, I found a drive-in movie ticket stub from the Riverdale Drive-In in Riverdale, Utah (near Ogden). I found it under the ashtray. That was the first clue for me that the car had spent time in Utah. I was later to connect with the original owner and determined that the original dealer was Ogden based.

Found a nos interior light shut off relay new in box in my 1977. Also, the original owners Tennessee license. I have since used the relay.

When I bought my '57 I noticed several brass screws, bolts and nuts on the exhaust system, body and in the engine compartment. I didn't think much about it until I got into the restoration and ended up replacing several dozen of the brass fasteners. I found out later that the previous owner was a plumber!
