    Wiper Switch 1972

Looking for a little guidance, I have a 1972 Corvette that has just completed a total restoration. When the wiper switch button is pressed/pushed I get nothing at all. If I pull down the wiper door over-ride under the steering wheel the wiper door opens perfect and then if I slide the wiper switch over I get hi and low speed wipers no problem. So the system is fully functional just don't know why nothing happens if I press the wiper button. It's a new restoration so I really don't want to start tearing everything apart. Anyone have any idea where I should start?
    Regards,
    Guy

Check the wiper arm seat position switch on the passenger side. If the wipers dont seat on the switch nothing works. When you override the system does the door close when you shut it down?

        Ed,
I took a look and it looks like the wiper arm is resting on the switch. If I open the wiper door manually and shut the car off it stays open.

Guy, The first thing that the switch does is activate a vacuum relay which opens the wiper door. The relay is mounted behind the dash near the tach. It should have a blue wire and a power,. The blue wire is from your wiper switch. You need to also check that you have vacuum here and it is plumbed properly. I hope this helps, Joe

                  GUY,
You said when you "push" the wiper switch nothing happens. Did you slide the switch to the right with the door closed or just push it in. Pushing the switch in activates the washer. I may be wrong, and please correct me if I am, but if one of the 2 black ground wires at the washer pump are not making contact, nothing will happen. I'm not sure if the wipers will start in this case or not but check here.

Jeff, I am going to re-check my statement but I was under the impression when the washer button is pushed the door should open, washer should function and wipers should be on.

                      That's how it should work.

Guy, You are correct. There is a ramp in the switch that slides the switch to ON position when you push it in for washer operation. Then you would have to manually shut the wipers off.

Thanks for making the correction. It's been a long time since I used this and I thought it was something to check.
