MOOG 8282B AC Delco 45F0022 Kingpin thrust bearing part number?

Does any one have a MOOG 8282B or AC Delco 45F0022 Kingpin set for 53-62 Corvette/49-54 Chevy? If so, can you check what manufacturer and part number are the kingpin bearings supplied? I decided to save a couple bucks and got a "Restorers Choice" Kingpin set and the parts must be Chinese made, because the bearings are too thick and I can't get them installed. I don't think it's going to save me any money in the end. I'm hoping a good American made bearing will do the trick without having to spend another $60 on another Kingpin set.

I have original bearings "3003 Hoover Ball & Bearing Co." but cannot find any information on what the current part number is and the Hoover site doesn't mention them either sadly. These are about .559 inch thick, whereas the Chinese ones are about .575. I don't want to reuse them since they grind a bit when spun. I tried finding an interchange for the GM part number 373476 and there were lots of bearings and manufacturers, but I couldn't find any of them available...

I don't have any of these kits or, even, the component parts thereof, either original GM or otherwise. Both kits are, of course, still available. It will be interesting to see if anyone does. However, I have a "sneaking suspicion" that regardless of which kit one obtains, be it the "Restorer's Choice" brand, Moog, or AC Delco, the kits are going to be exactly the same and contain exactly the same pieces. The market for kits like this has to be extremely small by now and I just can't see multiple manufacturing sources. Plus, given the "price point" of these kits, I would expect that most, if not all, of the component parts would be of "offshore" manufacture.

In "today's world", many bearings, especially those for older applications, are of Chinese manufacture. For the kind of bearings that are part of these kits, I doubt there is a current US manufacturer.

Thanks Joe. I've looked at pictures of various kits and some do indeed seem to have different bearings. This bearing doesn't sport any manufacturing mark. I've decided to just buy a MOOG kit and cross my fingers. The bearings from the one I have, which I verified I actually got from Corvette Central part #571014 simply do not fit. I bought it so long ago though I don't think I can return it. Plus I pressed the bushings already And one of those was loose in the bore. So either my bore is oversize, or the bushings are shabby as well. I'll repress the MOOG bushings and hopefully they are all tight

Keep in mind that when you see a picture of a kit like this in parts information, that does not necessarily mean that it's a picture of the current kit being sold. It could be a picture of the kit sold 25 years ago that's never been updated as the kit has "evolved". However, it will be interesting to see what the bearings are like in the current Moog kit.

Allied Auto Stores on Grimmer Bl. has the Moog kit in stock for $56.47. Maybe they'll let you look at it before you buy it.

I've already go it on order I've become pretty lazy about trying to find things locally. You waste more time trying to find it than just ordering it... Thanks for checking though.

To close the loop on this... The MOOG kit seems made by Trayer Products Inc. and the bearing is a Trayer products BE-14. http://www.trayerproducts.com

Amazingly enough they slip right in as one would expect. The bushings in the kit also all pressed in just fine, unlike one from the Corvette Central kit that seems to have been undersized. So I would definitely not recommend anyone buy the Corvette Central kit.

It's good to know that there's still a US manufacturer of these parts. In a way, it kind of surprises me but I'm glad to be surprised.
