Re: Correct deep groove pulley belt
My original reason for this thread is to find a belt that will be correct for the deep groove pulleys I will be using on my new engine. I don't care it they are "judging correct" I just want the correct belt for the pulley so it stays on.
I have searched the net and this is what I have found I suppose either one will work:
GATES K040535 54” X 9/16”
V-BELT SUPPLY 54” X 1/2” http://www.vbeltsupply.com/catalogse...F2%22+fan+belt
Darryl------
The 3/8" wide belt will provide more assurance of staying in place due to the fact that it will ride lower in the pulley grooves. So, I would look for a 54-1/8 X 3/8" belt. If you can't find one in an auto parts store (a lot of belts are 7/16" or metric now), you should be able to get one from Quanta. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Correct deep groove pulley belt
That was my initial thought as well. However, there must have been a reason that the factory specified a wider belt for the hipo cars. I am thinking that maybe the narrower belt might twist upon deceleration at high rpms? I think I will try the wider belt first.- Top
