        The 3/8" wide belt will provide more assurance of staying in place due to the fact that it will ride lower in the pulley grooves. So, I would look for a 54-1/8 X 3/8" belt. If you can't find one in an auto parts store (a lot of belts are 7/16" or metric now), you should be able to get one from Quanta.

            That was my initial thought as well. However, there must have been a reason that the factory specified a wider belt for the hipo cars. I am thinking that maybe the narrower belt might twist upon deceleration at high rpms? I think I will try the wider belt first.
