    C3 Lug Nut Pattern

I need to pick up four rims/tires that will serve as slaves for a rolling chassis but do not care to pay an arm and a leg. I've looked for years at Carlisle and anything with a broadcast code or date code seems to minimum is $50.00 for a rim.

I figure the local junk yard may be the best shot but then I suspect lug nut patterns have changed over the years for GM and/or Chevrolet. So, what am I looking for to fit a C3?

Looking up some charts, they show 5x120.7 but is that all Chevrolet from 1968 - 1982? Is the range (datewise) wider? Does it include all GM vehicles during those years?

I guess the question is...what do I tell the junk man I'm looking for, assuming that's my best option?

Tom, iirc, ANY Chev passenger car rim from the 50's to late '70s will have the same bolt pattern to fit...the problem will be to find rims that will clear the brake calipers properly. Some will bolt on and not have any clearance issues, but some may rub slightly, and some will lock down completely. 1/4" spacers usually take care of those. hth

lug pattern is 5 lugs by 4 3/4. Gm still uses this size but in metric on the other site members like mid 90's S-10 spares

Not all of them will clear the calipers.

IFRC when I picked up mine in apprx.1995 I got rims from a full size chevrolet. I can only guess that they came from apprx. a late 80s to early 90s car.

So what's the spec that clears the calipers?

So will six inch rims work on a C3 and provide sufficient caliper clearance?

If is from a '67 Corvette it will fit.

Tom, I can't give you specific specs, and certainly have not tried all types of wheels, however I have used 6" and 7" rally rims for "rollers" in the shop. Going out on a limb here, but I think all 15" rally rims may work. I am sure some conventional steel wheels may work (65 and 66 Corvette for sure), but not sure which ones as I have never tried them. Chip.

In summary, it sounds like regular steel rims will not work but rally wheels will whether 6" or 8" due to the space for calipers.

                        Thanks Chip!

I know Chev S10/Blazer rims up to 2005 will fit. Some folks run the mini spare in their rear tire well.

I took the mini spare out of a 96 S-10 that was at a friends wrecking yard. It would not clear the calipers on my 65.
