Gents: I bought a vintage Mobil Service inspection sticker from Bob Hoyte's business. Where exactly should it be placed (e.g., driver's side door on the inside right or the left door jamb)? Any guidance appreciated. Many thanks boys. Best, Ned

Re: Service Inspection - Vintage Sticker Placement
My 68 has a Mobil oil change sticker on the door from 1973. It's on the rear door jamb on the door, not the body of the car, if that makes sense.

Re: Service Inspection - Vintage Sticker Placement
Why would you want to put a sticker on your car that is not real to said car? It would be meaningless as far as an actual oil change on your car back in the day......................?- Top

Re: Service Inspection - Vintage Sticker Placement
It's an interesting piece to add, if you want to do that. But do you really think that the gas station oil change guy got instructions on where to adhere that? Or that he paid any attention if he did? They were stuck on wherever they fit, usually on the back of the door, and were almost never straight.- Top

Re: Service Inspection - Vintage Sticker Placement
I think these kind of accoutrements are useful items that provide interesting historic context to a car. Like vintage dealer license plate frames, year of manufacture plates, vintage key fobs from your dealership, etc. But I agree, the oil change guys were not concerned with very much except getting a sticker someplace to let you know when the oil was changed.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

From a judging perspective, leave it in the envelope it came in.- Top

Re: Service Inspection - Vintage Sticker Placement
Absolutely correct, so long as the items are original to the car they have historical significance. To add a period or a reproduction oil change sticker that has no connection to the car is a shoddy attempt to counterfeit history where none exists.- Top

That's what I was thinking. If you're having or sometime have on planning the car judged, wouldn't that be a deduct since no car left St. Louis with one.- Top

Post #4 was not answered so I'm assuming your "counterfeit history where none exists" is the case.- Top

Oh my, so now we are concerned about branding oil change stickers as counterfeit? That seems a bit extreme guys, sorry.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
