69 Grill and HeadLight Shield Screws

    Hi everyone,

This has probably been answered but I could not tell for sure if what I found applied to a Jan '69 car. Should the Philips screws that retain the gill have a captured washer or have a flanged head? I noticed that each type is provided by two different vendors.

How about the headlight shield screws? What I removed was simply a Philips screw with no washer or flange.

    Thanks!

Jack, My 72 has flanged heads for grill, and round head Philip's screws for shields, both are Black phosphate, I am not totally sure 69 would be the same.

      Hi Jack,
I'm pretty sure 69's used the captured washer Phillips Head screw. I looked into this for my late 69 several years ago and found some info in the archives here. I think the flanged ones were used on the new design grill starting in 1970.

Thanks Edward and Larry. I think I'll go with the ones with the captured washer. I have two '69s - one with an original early grill with the silver paint but it didn't have correct screws - least not either style mentioned here. My other one had a repro grill and used the screws with captured washer.
