Were cerametallix brake shoe replacements available for Corvettes with standard brake drums after 57, in the service parts aftermarket?

Re: Cerametallix brakes
Most certainly, I cannot remember the trade name but I used them on several autos. You were lucky if there was enough of the brake drums left to reline a second time. They would eat brake drums. I had a '60 Chrysler that would eat a set of organic brake linings up in under 10,000 miles ( car was used for business purposes) The thing I liked about them was the harder you worked the brakes the better the brakes worked. Not worth a sheet when cold though.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Cerametallix brakes
The friction material went through various changes over the years. I believe the term "cerameatllic" referred to the material used for the Corvette SS, and implies that it was of ceramic and metallic composition. The "metallic" brake production option implies no ceramic, but it too probably went through material changes as did the HD brake packages of the era.
Nowadays there are friction materials that provide equal or better-fade free operation, but without the large variation in Cf. Try carbotechengineering.com
