Just wondering do all SB chevy engines (283, 327,350) have the same exhaust manifold bolts. They seem to have the same head markings--are they the same length and diameter?

For 1956-1979, basically yes. All exhaust manifold bolts for small blocks (and big blocks, too) were 3/8-16. Most small blocks use bolts 2-1/4" long at the end runners and 2-27/32" at the two center holes on each side. However, there are some differences with respect to special bolts or studs used for certain positions depending on other installed items.
1980-82 with tubular manifolds use different bolts. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Exhaust Manifold Bolts--Do All SB have the Same Ones?
The reason I'm asking these questions is a friend on mine who was helping me removed the exhaust manifold bolts from my LT-1 motor when I wasn't present and threw them all in a bag--so I don't know which ones go where and which ones had a bracket to hold the chrome shielding. Correct me if I'm wrong: there are 10 bolts-- 8 short ones 2 1/4 long and 2 long ones 2 27/32 in long. They all have washers and there are 4 french locks on the two front and two rear bolts on each side.
Are there any side ignition shield supports on the exhaust manifold bolts?- Top

There are a total of 12 bolts. 8 of 2-1/4" and 4 of 2-27/32.
French locks are as you describe.
If you're talking about the side RF shields, all of the brackets mount to the exhaust manifold boltsIn Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Exhaust Manifold Bolts--Do All SB have the Same Ones?
There are ignition shield brackets under some/all exhaust manifold bolts, but the number will depend on the year of your car, and in some cases the VIN (early or late in the model year). Also air conditioning and some alternator support brackets attach to exhaust manifold bolts. AIR pump support brackets may also attach to exhaust manifold bolts, but I would have to look at an AIM to be sure of that. The reason I'm asking these questions is a friend on mine who was helping me removed the exhaust manifold bolts from my LT-1 motor when I wasn't present and threw them all in a bag--so I don't know which ones go where and which ones had a bracket to hold the chrome shielding. And don't forget the round washers. They are small in outside diameter like a lock washer without the split. I believe they go under the french locks.- Top

Yup. The order of assembly is bolt/french lock/washer/manifold. For the ones with shielding brackets, the bracket goes between the washer and the manifold.- Top
