    Check the archives as this has been discussed in detail before.

    The answer is no it cannot be adjusted but components can be changed as the lower mechanism is the same.

      You probably have a C3 shifter which is longer.

        I agree. Bet its a C-3. They are taller because of the taller console

          The C3 shaft is longer so it sticks up a few inches more in a C2.

              I can't tell which one of your '65s you pictured but the one pictured appears to have the correct shifter.

                The difference in "feel" on one of the cars is probably due to the shift arms being lowered on the shift levers sometine in the past. It's very common to do so and it really improves the feel of the shifter.
