    New Holley suggestions

Hi folks At the suggestion of expert Joe Lucia, I replaced service carb for my 1965 327/350 with a Holley Performer CFM carb.

In trying to properly adjust the floats i get large flows from the site windows when the engine is running. It seems therefore that the floats need to be lowered, correct? My question is: to begin the adjustment, should the floats be lowered as far as possible? Will the engine run when the floats are fully lowered? I have read quite a bit on this supposedly simple procedure but in this situation the fuel flow seems much too great to accomplish as the 'books" suggest. Is a midway adjustment the best way to begin?

Thanks for your input and expertise.

John yes sounds like your floats are too high. If you go to Holleys website they have lots of self help video. Also YouTube is a good sorce.

If carb floods even after you have floats adjusted correctly- can just get a bit of fuel to come out sight plug when you shake the car, pull floats and check for pin hole leaks. Had this happen on 2 new correct Holley carbs.

        John,

Assuming all the parts are new and good remember when you adjust the float level to give the engine time to burn the excess fuel down to the new level. The engine idle circuit burns fuel slow so be patient, the level should be at the bottom of the sight hole threads.

Float adjustment advice above is correct. But don't know how other aspects of a Holey "Performer" would compare with a 4150 series of original PN that come from factory.
