    Alternator bracket

I have a 66 convertible with a 327/300 and AC. Does anyone make a more rugged alternator bracket? The upper bracket with the radial slot seems flimsy. Mine is slightly bent and it causes the belt to be misaligned.

    Noel,
Post up a picture of your current bracket. The stock bracket for that application is plenty stout and should work just fine. Maybe someone in your car's past 51 years swapped out the bracket with something other than stock.

You should be getting most of the support from the lower exhaust manifold mount. Make sure you have no end to end play with mount and alternator. If so shim till tight. The repop adjuster arm braces are of an inferior steel. Soft, too much lead they bend easy. Try to find a good original arm made out of good old American steel. Original arms are difficult to bend at all in operation.
