OK Dino, thanks. I'll get the correct filler tube and hoses - I am sure those are required for the overall ventilation system to work as designed. Once the manuals arrive I will further explore your observations about the temp sensor routing and pulleys.

It seems that there is some controversy or at least friendly disagreement among even NCRS judges about the correct GF finish. I have read both black and silver as correct for early 1964. All agree on the chrome bracket, however. I've ordered all correct bits from the fuel pump to the carb (with the possible exception of the color of the GF depending on who one talks to). Also replacing all the incorrect worm drive hose clamps.

Hey Tom, thanks for the welcome. It's nice to be using a 9/16 socket again! I was born in Flint, not too far from the plant where our engines were built, and got my masters degree at GMI right across the street in what we natives call "the hole." The engine plant is in a dip next to the Flint River which is (at least partially) where the "hole" name comes from.

I'll verify after some of the documents I ordered on the recommendations of this post have arrived. The distributor also seems to still be a vacuum advance unit but, again, to be verified when manuals arrive. In the meantime I've ordered the correct lines, brackets, etc. to reinstall the vacuum connection between dizzy and carb.

The hose between the intake and block will also be removed. I have the pipe and associated hardware between block and air cleaner coming. Now I just need to find the correct plug for the intake manifold. There must've been a factory solid plug (as shown in the Adams reference) for cars without boosted brakes but I have not been able to find any reference to it. Also still looking for the routing of the small diameter hose from the bottom of the air cleaner to the (carb?).

Thanks for the observations and input.

I think the plug was just a square head, common pipe plug. I don't recall the thread size but it was probably 1/4 or 1/2 NPT.
