    Shipping Wheels Method

Dollar Store Pool Noodles sliced along the edges and taped around the wheel rims.
edit... I hate dUmbphones. I want my flip phone back. Never had this stinking sideways problem with it.

edit redux - saved the 3 POS sideways photos, rotated/saved in MS PhotoViewer, uploaded the rotated phots back here... done. THAT was easy!

edit rethink - All I really wanted to do was a quick post from my cell camera last night. When the 3 photos came out sideways I knew it was gonna be a pain. I had photos on my Olympus "Smart" Camera, so here are some of those now.

I hunted around to several tires/wheel shops for boxes but all of their wheel boxes were either too big or already gone. The boxes I used were 18x18x18, with one end adjustable with creases to shorten the height to 12". I got the boxes at my local Packing/Shipping/Fedex dropoff store. $5 each. Plus 2 bucks worth of noodles, a big roll of tape, some extra bubble-wrap and paper. Each box weighs 25 lbs. I feel confident that the Shipping Gorillas and the Automatic Conveyors will not be able to harm these, unless the Fedex Ground trucks get stranded on a deserted island with Tom Hanks and his buddy Wilson.

The pictures posted sideways because the camera (phone) was being held sideways at the time. Websites don't have software to flip the image right side up afterwards.

It can be fixed when you go to photos. I am not that computer literate, but go to photos, select that picture, you should see lines 3 lines, one under each other, press that, then to the left touch the box with the arrows. Then rotate the picture. Then select done.

Bob I still have my old flip phone and may just reactivate it and just throw this POS in the pool.

Michael, Camera was perfectly vertical when I took the photos. Gary Chesnut, Don Hooper and I spent a dozen emails together trying to figure out the upside down sideways anomalies. The workaround(See This Post) is what I used to fix the 3 sideways cell pics I first uploaded. And it doesn't matter if auto-rotate is on or off as my experiments proved. There's a hidden orientation attribute somewhere that gets either SW randomized or SW stupidized, not sure which. I suspect the latter.

Gary when you say "go to photos", where? In here under "Manage Attachments", of on the Mac or PC?

Wheels look the same from all directions don't they! Good job on packaging.

Seems you're not the only Apple user to have this problem

Some users found a fix by calibrating the compass (?)

On road using this dUmbphone to reply.....

It's a Android LG Verizon. I give up posting pics with this thing.

                      Re: Shipping Wheels Method

You have a chance on the wheels. It's only when you stamp the box "FRAGILE" or "THIS SIDE UP" that you are DOOMED.

                        Loren,

You are correct. In UPS language "Fragile" means throw this box as far and hard as you can!

I think some workers may think "Fragile" is a French word they don't understand........

But Rich you are much more meticulous than I, I just drop them off at FedEx and have them pack them for shipment. That way, if they are damaged, FedEx is on the hook.

                            Okay,
Finally got it all done and Fedex labelled. What a pain this task turned out to be. Kudos to the shipping departments of all of our suppliers as it certainly takes time to do this stuff.

Loren, et al who had concerns....The boxes are NOT marked with Fragilllee or Delicatorino or Glassicato or anything.

7 boxes total. 5 Rally Wheels, 4 restored original trim rings, 4 NOS Center Caps and nice original ornaments(see below). Total weight 148 lbs. Wheels are 26 lbs each, 10 lbs of Trim Rings, 8 lbs of center caps.ornaments.

BTW, The NOS Center Caps with their very nice used original ornaments look great. Here are the ornaments before I installed them on the caps. Notice the gold hue is seen along the edges of the bowtie.
