    Need help with Muncie numbers?

    I have a Muncie trans with the following numbers can someone tell me what it is year-m2o-m21-m22?
    side cover-3884685
    tail-3857584
    main case-3885010
    date-P0614. P-Muncie- 06 June- 14 day of month
    No rings on input shaft

    do not know year as no vin number on. It
    any help please?

      GM #3884685 side cover------1966-68

      GM #3857584 extension housing------late 1965-69

      GM #3885010 main case--------------1966-67

      So, I'd say this is a 1966 or 1967 transmission. Of course, it could also be a transmission built up from various pieces.

          Thanks joe, i was told the date codes with the year in it started in 67 ? So i am thinking it is a 66. Thanks kevin 775

              Where it does not have any rings on the input shaft maybe a M22??

                  Yes, date coding which included the year began for 1967.

                  No circumferential grooves on the main shaft could indicate an M-22. However, many aftermarket input gear shafts, once widely available and used to service Muncie transmissions, did not have such grooves regardless of which Muncie variant they serviced.
