1965 BB with restamped 1964 Transmission

So it looks like my 65 BB has a restamped 1964 transmission installed.

The question i have is it acceptable to restamp a 1964 transmission and install it in a 65 corvette? I am pretty sure that i know the answer to that question

The second question is how would it work if you need a new transmission but want it to be numbers matching with the engine?

This is kind of a follow up post that i entered yesterday regarding transmission numbers. I want to thank all of the great responses that i received to that post

    Some points to consider:

-NCRS doesn't judge these numbers, they're generally not easily visible.

-The term 'numbers matching' used to exclusively mean the 'original real-deal factory installed' piece. Today there's dozens of different meanings, including yours. Ask 10 people, you'll get 12 answers. NCRS doesn't use the term 'numbers matching', fortunately.

-Restamping might be justifiable if the original information was inadvertently removed and the identical info is now being re-stamped. That's 'restoration'. What you are proposing is to remove the present information and deliberately replace it with different information to make it seem that the piece might be the original factory installed item. Since you know that the info is a restamp and not an original piece, the only possible purpose would be to deceive others. That's usually called 'counterfeiting'.

    My 2 cents.

You misunderstood want i was looking for. I have no intention of restamping or changing anything but rather trying to get educated on how all this works. All i am looking for is information on ways to make my car as close as possible to how it was built.

Maybe you could restate your questions then. You used some particularly vague and polarizing terms in your first post.

If your original transmission is gone, it's gone. A replacement will never be the original.
