Re: Rare 59 Corvette built to order by request of Harley Earl
Thank you for the link. I also looked up all that Google had on "Damsels of Design" but the only Corvette they showed or talked about were the 1958. I thought that possibly the mysterious woman named Baldwin was one of the designing women but could find no mention of her. When Earl retired in late 58 Mitchell ended the era of the shows of the "Damsels of Design." I wonder if this car was a carry over in to 1959?? The 58 model looks to be the same color as the 59 my friend has purchased.- Top

This appears to be the car that Werner Meier at Masterworks had in his shop many years ago. I saw it prior to the restoration. He told me that it was a styling car. From what I remeber, it had retractable seatbelts and litter containers in the kick panels. ZBase motor, powerglide. Based on the shot of the instrumrent cluster the tach is from a 58.- Top

If the friend or his son doesn't care enough to supply some photographs why should we care.- Top

Re: Rare 59 Corvette built to order by request of Harley Earl
Hey, I am just trying to help them out. I don't know if they plan to keep or sell the car. If anyone is interested in the car from a historical standpoint, purchasing or otherwise I have provided an email address and phone #. I Just know it was a custom build and I personally know the guy they bought it from who has owned it for at least 40 or maybe 50 some years. He would never do the interior or any work on it because he knew it was something special and did not want to destroy that aspect of the car.- Top
