Gas tank support bracket hardware finish

    * RE a 1964 Corvette. What is the finish on the fastener hardware pieces that secure the gas tank support bracket to the frame - as they appear installed.

The hardware consists of 4 sets of the parts listed below. They appear on Page D168 (Section 8, Sheet B1.00) of the AIM; they are not discussed anywhere in the Judging Guide (that I have found).

    Bold, 122126
    L. Washer, 120382
    Nut, 120377
    Washer, 120394

I assume the frame (with the bracket and hardware I am asking about) was not painted after it was all installed on the frame, in other words, the hardware finish is as they were manufactured and not subsequently painted.

    Thank you
    Ed

Here is the area from a Mar 64, the finish is just cad/zinc. Thanks for giving the Section/sheet # since mine is on page D164 so page numbers are different for some AIM's

Alan - thanks for the reply / info. Looking at the pic you attached, the nut & washer are definitely zinc. What you can see of the threads of the bolt look a bit oxidized. Do you think they they are also zinc - just aged -- or perhaps black phosphorous?

      Thanks again

          Alan,

Thanks again - I think I will plate mine with zinc instead of ferrous oxide.
