    C3 Coil Spring

I am installing the coil springs on my 70 BB convertible.

The judging guide states: There are two holes in the lower control arm in the pocket where the bottom of the spring rests. One may be covered by the spring; the other must be open as a drain.

There is a hole in the pocket at the top of spring. Where should the top end of the spring be in respect to this hole?

    Thanks,
    Allen

No hole in the top for the spring (there is one for the upper shock absorber attachment), but there are "tabs" (for want of a better word) to locate the top of the spring side to side and front to back. You must be sure to get these tabs aligned with the top of the spring to keep the top located laterally.

I am pretty sure there are better words in the AIM to describe this situation. Words sometimes fail me.

      Re: C3 Coil Spring

I just found it in the AIM thru the help of Alan 71 on the CF. It is found on UPC3, Sheet A4.

The end of the coil should be within .38" +- .12" from the stop in the pocket.
This means you should be able to see the cut end of the spring through the observation hole.

Thank you Terry for your response.
