It is my understanding that the DOT has approved the use of clear lenses and red lights for use in tail lights (3 function) on the 2017 Corvettes.
Is this correct?
If so is it applicable to all earlier year Corvettes, such as 1962 or 1965?

Being an old timer, why would anyone want clear lenses in the back other than back up lights?

The application is on a highly modified C2, and that,s what he wants.
It is sort of a European Look thing.

IMHO I can't stand them and think they should be banned. doing the day I have a hard time seeing the red light behind the lens

I am not a fan of tail lights with clear lenses either.
But I sell LED light assemblies for C1 & C2 Corvettes and have a person interested in the clear lens and red LED lights which are not manufactured.
They can be custom made using an existing LED board and a clear lens.
My question is, does anyone know if this would be DOT legal for highway use?

You see all the young street racers with clear lenses now and some new cars. Not sure when this was changed.
