69 passenger side carpet fitting issue.

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has come across this? For the most part the carpet fits pretty good except for this bulge. I think the intent of the bulge is to clear the hump on the trans tunnel for the transmission cooler lines but to say the least, this bulge is excessive.
So since this carpet is from one of the best if THE best supplier of interior parts, I was wondering if this is typical for all 69s? If so I'll just leave it but if not I'll have to shrink it down and was wonder what a good way would be to do this. I was thinking a heat gun and then just push it back into place but I'm a little concerned that the heat will affect the fibers before the backing and it will just "crush" and I'll have a matted spot. Is this the way to fix it or is there a better way?

    Thanks

Hey guys, I just thought I'd check and see if anyone could advise me on how to deal with my carpet issue here. Or is this really how they fit?

Is your car a 4 speed or automatic?

Then it's just too big of a lump.
Assuming you're talking about the supplier in Texas, I'd give them a call and see if they can send you the correct piece.

So are you saying that the floor in this area is different between auto and manuals? I didn't realise that. I'll give them a call and see what they say but I bought the carpet in 08 so I won't hold my breath. The quick and simpler way for me at this point would be to just heat and "push" it back into place but I'm not sure if this is even possible...

Yes. As you've noted the area there is elevated (note triangular patch in floor) to allow for the larger transmission.
It looks like you have a 4 speed piece in an auto car.
