Early 1962 Corvette FI question

Question ? Did early 1962 corvettes come with a silver anodized aluminum grill like the 61 corvettes had? I have a 62 FI corvette, I am the 3rd owner, i purchased the car from my father n law, he purchased the car in 1969 from the original onwer. The car has a silver anodized aluminum grill on it. I was told early 62's came that way? True it false?

As Mike said, no silver 62 grilles. Is it possible all the black anodizing has worn off the original grille?

A 61 grille is very different than a 62 grille far beyond the plating color. 61's have a solid horizontal area in the center. 62's do not.

Thank You Mike, Ya I believe someone placed a 61 grill on my 62, i really like the looks of it on the car, my 62 is far from a show car, just a weekend driver, the car has been in my wife's family since 1969, now in my garage. The car was sitting in my father n laws barn for 20 years when I purchased it from him($120.00) long story, so far I have rebuild the transmission, fuel injection system, every thing else to make her road worthy. Paint and interior in the future.

Jerry, about how early is your '62?

My brother has owned an early '62 FI (300-400 range, I think) for 40 years. Maybe you two could compare notes sometime.
