    '72 head light switch

Went out for dinner the other night and found out (the hard way) that my dash lights don't come on. The switch has given me grief in the past but I guess it's time to do something about it. I've read that the repro switches are not so great. I figure the only alternatives are a used original or having mine rebuilt if someone does that which is the first part of my question. Second part is, what should I look for in a good used switch? I'm going to Carlisle Thursday so hopefully I'll be able to find one. Thanks!!

    Tom,

    repros are CRAP

eBay has NOS one for $125
    worth every penny

you would spend as much or more getting your switch restored..
    my 2 cents.

I bought a repro switch from Paragon six years ago, still works, no problems.

Just one question about the one on ebay vs. the Paragon switch. I looked closely at the pics of both. The ebay switch has seven terminals and the Paragon switch has eight. Which is correct? Paragon shows the switch for '74 and up as having seven terminals so I'm confused. Thanks!!

There is nothing wrong with the repo switch and the number of terminals does not matter. Just plug her in and go!
Would much rather have the repo with new contacts than an original however the originals can be easily taken apart and cleaned.
There is no reason not to use the original after cleaning the contacts internally and using a dab of silicone crease.

How can I ID the correct switch for a '72 vs. the later '74 and up switch, other than the part #? The only difference I've seen is the number of electrical terminals but apparently that doesn't matter. I'll be at Carlisle and will probably try to find one if I can. Thanks again!!
