    '68 windshield

I would like to purchase a dated-tinted windshield for my '68. Who sells the best windshields and the best price?

Hi Brian, I will give you a bump and a recommendation, did you try Pilkington Classics? Maybe others have thoughts for you

If you have the 68 judged with a reproduction, tinted windshield, there will be (I believe) a 9 or 10 point deduction. With that being said, you'll have a beautifully clear piece of glass.

        Both are correct.
I believe that Pilkington is really the only company making them any more. You can then shop for pricing from any vendor.

Happened to see an older reproduction when judging at Altoona, and wondered if it was from Dale Smith's OEM Glass. It was much nicer than what is currently available.

A top local restorer only uses Auto City glass - he says the fit and packaging and price are the best around..

Does anybody have a windshield from auto city glass uninstalled, if you do, can you look closely along the edge of the glass, by law they have to put a DOT code on the glass... there is a lot of comments that one company makes a better part over another.... I believe they are all DOT -177 pilkington made in Mexicali Mexico. I can't believe Pilk is giving their LOF rights away to another maker... the DOT code will be very small font but it is there.

              Dino
Just rec'd my new windshield from Auto City Classic DOT #516. The old windshield also from Auto City about 4 years ago (cracked) DOT #117. The tinted section on the new one is straight across and looks better than the old one, it curves at the ends. Does this tell you anything new?

I called pilkington today and spoke with my contact they are selling the LOF rights to at least two other companies, Thailand and Peru manufactures . He also told me that they are now making their windshield thicker and not shaping the shade band.. google windshield DOT codes.... looks like there are several makers therefore several thickness and bends..no longer sure which is best.
