Tom, It's a picture of a '66 fuse panel, physically different from '63 and I recall the fuse layout is different also. The directional circuit wiring is different also. I wanted to show the terminals and that they can corrode.

I don't have my '63 diagrams handy, but IIRC the Red feed(from Horn Relay Buss Bar, from Alternator/Battery feed) into the fuse panel also(via harness junctions) powers the IGN switch, Light Switch, Brake Lamps, etc. The BRN is ACC(Accessory) which is sourced at the IGN switch when in RUN or ACC to then feed the Fuse panel to run Radio, Heater, Wipers, etc.

If you're wiring has splices and marginal connections, you may want to consider replacing the entire wiring system. What you cannot see may be a problem also.

Thanks for the clarification. Now the missing jumper to the turn signal flasher makes sense. At his point the problem has not yet come back so I think I'm good for now. As far as replacing the instrument harness, the only question is will I do it or pay some else. I did remove and restore the instrument cluster (twice) so I have that ritual pretty much down to an art. After that process the rest should be relatively stratight forward. Thanks again.

        Re: 63 electrical problem stumped

After much trial and error, I'm convinced the problem i was having was indeed related to the firewall connector. That was a consistent suggested by a few members and after cleaning up each contact set on both mating connectors (2 male, 2 female) everything seems to be ok.

          Tom

I replaced both the engine and headlight harnesses in my 64. No big deal. Just go step by step or connection by connection. I used Electric
limited harnesses. Saturday morning job. Geting to the starter solenoid, VR and headlights were the most difficult parts.
