Corvette Order Copy / Tank Sticker Validation. Can a partial be validated?

I recently purchased a 1968 with a partial tank sticker still attached to the original fuel tank. Unfortunately, the top section with the dates, order number and dealer code is gone. There is a good amount of the vehicle option codes and description that are visible. Can the tank sticker be validated through the $100 validation process without the top portion? It is not a hugely valuable corvette, but I think it would be neat to still have it done if it is possible without the top portion.

    Thank you

    No, it can't...unfortunately.

ok, thank you. I was thinking that they could take the VIN i gave them and verify in their records that my car has the options that I have listed on the tank sticker. Thanks for your help.

As I understand it, they take the various numbers strings from the document, tank sticker, window sticker, etc., and match those to the VIN in their records. If those match, then the document is most likely original and thus the options on the document are most likely correct for that VIN. They do not have a list of options by VIN in the records.

I think I understand. So the process of validation does not include the VIN since that was not on the tank sticker. But it does include the Ident Number & Order number that are listed at the top of the tank sticker and those are matched against their records? Sorry for the questions, I just could not find any other threads that discussed this subject using the search function. I appreciate the explanations.

Yes, all those numbers are in the database and are associated with the VIN, so it is an indirect way of verifying options. Here is my '67's tank sticker, that was validated based on all that info, but if it is missing, you are out of luck.
