    1972 Door latch mechanism/hardware.

I am having difficulty with the rods and clips in the doors on my 72 coupe. I am some what getting everything assembled but it is just not right. My biggest problems are which way the 3 rods line up and which clips are used and how are they attached ?????
Any and all help from the membership will be greatly appreciated not to mention a great reduction in hair loose which I don't have much of to start with.
    Thanks -- Rey

Ray, its tight quarters inside when working, the rods should push down and lock onto clips, use some W/B grease on white lube to ease at each end of clip and rod.

      Rey,

This is an example where a photo is worth a thousand words. This assembly isn't particularly complex, but when apart it's not intuitive what goes where. And I've seen this hardware assembled in a way that's incorrect, yet sort of works... but not well.

I posted a couple of photos in a recent thread on this topic (past 3-4 months). Look for that. Plus the AIM and CSM has detailed diagrams. But let me know if you would like me to post photos of a particular detail. The door panels are (still) removed on my '70, so this is easily done. Happy to do it.

I spent labor day replacing the window regulator on my '93 Allante. THAT's a bugger. It's an odd mix of American and Italian design. Plus it became obvious that whomever wrote the service manual procedure never actually did it.

What saved my sanity was taking lots of photos, and placing all removed parts and fasteners on a schematic of the assembly hand drawn on cardboard.
