    C-2 under dash mystery wires

I know I will feel foolish when I get the answer , but give it to me anyway !

I think the heat and the cramped quarters are getting to me , as I re-install the gauge cluster !

What is this set of wires for ?

The 3 terminal plug is definitely for the Heater Switch, as well as 1 of the 2 BRN Accessory plugs.

I don't have access to a 1966 AIM, but I believe the extra BRN Accesory plug is for C60 Air conditioning if equipped as it would plug into the feed for the C60 Fan control switch.

Hi guys and thanks for the replies.

Yes my car has a radio and A/C .

The blower switch was my first thought as well , however I already have the same colored wires wrapped in green tape marked as blower motor switch in a bundle of wires just above this one . The difference being that there are two orange wires for the same receptacle , and it does not have the two brown accessory plugs. (see photos)

I should point out that I installed and labeled all new wiring harnesses t/o .

Could this be another example of the stock wiring harness having a fan plug , but when A/C is added it goes unused in favor of the additional A/C harness ? If so I still wonder about the two additional Brown accessory wires.

That Doc Rebuilt Chart sounds like a good Idea.

Re: C-2 under dash mystery wires

The plug you showed is for the blower switch.
All dash harnesses have this plug.
Now that you have mentioned having A/C means you have a separate harness for A/C.
The plug that is in the dash harness will no longer be used and you will be using the plug from the A/C harness.
You will also not use the wire in the engine e harness that goes to the blower motor.
Now you will use the wires from the A/C harness.

Brown jumper harness plugs into brown wire in dash harness. This is how you will get the 12v to power blower switch with A/C

                  Rick ,

Looks like I was coming to that conclusion and editing my post at the same time that you were writing your reply. Thanks for confirming !
Do you have any info on what goes to the two additional brown receptacles ?

I will continue to scan the AIM in the C-60 section as well .

Brown wire plugs to terminal on switch.
The brown jumper off of wire to switch plugs into brown wire in dash harness.
This is how the switch receives keyed 12v to operate.

                      Thanks Rick ,

I finally found it in the AIM ; UPC C-60 E8

The C 60 section is a book unto itself !
